  • Name Surname Age Country
Yurii Korotun, 24 years, with love from Ukraine
  • What brought you to skate?
I started to skate in 2008, I was skating alone in my hometown Klavdievo in Kyiv region, only flat ground cruising, there weren’t any skateparks or spots to practice properly. After few months I visited street culture festival, that was a first moment when I saw tricks in the skatepark, I had a shitty skateboard and MC from the event gave me his board as a gift, after that moment I met friends and started to skate and travel around nearest cities searching for spots and skateparks.
  • Have you ever thought skateboarding will take you to the point where you are today?
Actually when I was young, I couldn’t even imagine that, I was looking at older pro riders and thought that it’s a dream life; to skate, to travel around the world and spend all time with your best dudes doing your favourite thing. For now, I am living this life and I’m great friends with all the pro players. I’m happy that I chose such a cool path.
  • How did you spend your time in lockdown?
During the first lockdown which was the strictest one, when everything was shut down, we were skating a lot in Kyiv, cruising empty streets, travelling around Ukraine and filming our full video which we dropped on YouTube 3 month ago.
All other lockdowns weren’t so strict, I was working and skating most of the time. Got a lot of cool film projects from July till now. I work in production and all lockdowns didn’t influence my job which is pretty good.
  • Favorite spot in your hometown? Send us a photo, we want to see it too 🙂 What is the trick you worked on the most in the past year?
My favourite spot in Kyiv is the postal square. There are a lot of ledges, 6 and 12 stairs with rails, a heavy double set and many other spots in the same place. It’s near the riverside, pretty calming and a nice place.
  • What is the trick you worked on the most in the past year?
I think it’s heelflip crooked, tail heel flip out, fs 360 flat and stairs. I have had a lot of injuries since 2020. and it’ll take a little bit more time to remember all the tricks that I was doing before and add some new one and work on them. Skateboarding is hard work on tricks all the time.
  • What’s the trick you usually start your session with?
360 flip, heelflip in any combination. Usually I start with stretching and some exercises then I move to flat tricks and some grinds making things harder and harder.
  • What is that one song that puts you in the zone?
Few years ago it was the Metronomy song «the look». All the time when I was doing something hard I was listening to it. It’s a pretty calm song but it really concentrated me on the trick. For now I prefer to listen to different things and not concentrate on the one.
  • Park or street ride?
I prefer more streets and pool skating, but most of the time I skate streets and it’s harder to learn new tricks and practice than in the skatepark. We have a problem with the skateparks in Kyiv, there are only few and they aren’t interesting, so usually we go to south Odessa to a big concrete plaza to skate and practice there and come back to film tricks in Kyiv.
  • All time favorite video game?
Tony Hawk pro skater 3 !!! Probably Skate 3 as well.
  • ‘’South Park’’ or ‘’Rick and Morty’’?
Rick and Morty for sure!! But South Park is also cool, difficult one)

  • Favorite memories from Pannonian and your stay in Osijek? And lastly, any message to people from the crowd at Pannonian?
I have been to Pannonian twice and I really love it, Croatia is so nice!
All of the moments were great, but I think one of the best was at the BBQ last year. It was a cool sunny day and I was very happy to meet all the dudes there again. It was chilly skating and a real skateboarding moment. Which truly connects people.
Want to say thank you to the Pannonian crew, you guys are doing a very cool and important thing, huge respect. Also to all dudes from Osijek, it will be very great to come and skate again in such a cool company.
