PC XIX – Best edition so far

Pannonian Challenge XIX has announced its best edition so far, with future Olympians taking part.

Even though Pannonian Challenge is being held earlier than previous years you don’t have to worry, mosquitos and fun times will be present.

Biggest extreme sports festival in this part of Europe, Pannonian Challenge, was presented on Faculty of Civil Engineering in Osijek. All extreme sports fans will be able to enjoy escapades of BMX, skateboard and inline roller riders earlier than ever, from May 30th till June 2nd. Despite being scheduled earlier than before, we can promise that Pannonian Challenge’s trademarks, fun times and mosquitos will be present.

This year the festival will host more than 300 world-class athletes from all around the world. Interesting thing is that BMX and skateboarding as sports are included in the next Olympics, so this year in Osijek we will follow and root for future Olympians. To the visitor’s satisfaction the entrance to the sports section is free of charge.

Music part of the festival will be held in the backyard of former nightclub Vega. In charge of keeping the atmosphere going till early in the morning will be Psihomodo Pop, Urban&4, Brkovi and many others. Traditionally, opening party will be held in Kazamat, where all the fans and supporters of extreme sports and music will gather. Entrance for musical part of the festival will be 20 HRK per night, while the opening party is free for all the visitors.

With a multitude of top athletes and musicians, this year Pannonian Challenge will also for the first time gather experts from the field of event management. With the biggest edition of the festival so far, for the first time, as part of the festival the TO DO Sport Event Conference will be held this year. The conference will take part on the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Osijek on June 1st and 2nd.

TO DO conference is an event that brings together experts from various sports and event industries who share their ideas, knowledge and experiences with the goal of linking and developing each other. The best experts in sports-event industry will present their projects and discuss the trends and possibilities of networking and developing. This is the most important conference in the region so far, and the team from the organization is proud of the fact that Osijek will host such an event.

“This unique event will position Osijek on a map of progressive and open cities, and the arrival of top experts from event management is a great starting point for developing, both urban culture and sports culture in general” said Jurica Barać, Director of the Festival.

Some of the most important names of the conference are Olivier Pascal (FISE World Series), Tomaž Ambrožić (Ironman Slovenia), Joe Bašić (Beach Majors & Ultra Music Festival), Vladimir Miholjević (Tour of Croatia) and many others. The TO DO conference fee is 300 kunas + VAT, and all the financial revenue goes to the “Klasje” community service center, which will use this donation to finance the sports activities of its users.

Pannonian Challenge is certainly one of the most popular events in Osijek and beyond, and it has become a real brand of the City, Deputy Mayor Žana Gamoš highlighted. “It is great that Pannonian Challenge is coming earlier this year for all of us that are waiting impatiently! The biggest regional extreme sports festival in Skate park on the left bank of river Drava is traditionally becoming the center of the world’s best inline, skate and BMX athletes. I am proud of our team of enthusiasts from Osijek who are living this event 365 days year round and repeatedly invent breathtaking surprises. The City of Osijek has been supporting this project since day one and I am happy to have the opportunity to work with this imaginative and forward-looking team. We know the time and the place – all we have to do is find the best place on the stands and enjoy every moment of this spectacle!”

“During the past 18 years, Pannonian Challenge has grown into biggest and most attractive event in our county and beyond and because of that Osijek-Baranja County has decided to actively participate in the organization of this extreme sports festival. It is up to us to support this group of enthusiasts who have started their journey on the playground of Iktus rowing club with a minimum budget and a great idea. Today their idea is recognized all over the world. Thousands of athletes and visitors from around the world come to Osijek in June to soak up the adrenaline atmosphere that has been broadcasted on TV stations over the last few years. Pannonian is a brand of the city of Osijek and the Osijek-Baranja County, because besides sports it also promotes the tourism potential of Slavonia and Baranja. Merging the tourist offer and top-quality manifestations like this one is a winning combination. Tourism development strategy of our county is based on the synergy of all segments of the tourist offer,” said county Prefect Ivan Anušić.

By organizing the TO DO Sport Event Conference, the Festival has earned its place on the list of top tourist events in Croatia, which is confirmed by Vladimir Miholjević, the head of the most famous international bicycle race in Croatia “Tour of Croatia”. “I’m looking forward to participate in the first specialized TO DO conference within Pannonian Challenge. Sharing the experiences with fellow colleagues, organizers of sports events that greatly contribute to the recognizability of the destinations they are being held in and the good business results of the subjects that participate within these events, is a special occasion. Present-day’s trends and needs are to blend the event into the destination as much as possible and through that send a multiple message into the world about the destination itself and the commercial partners doing business in it. Sporting events have proven to be the most effective promotional tool for destination communication, but they are particularly welcome because they are also moving force of positive business trends and lifestyles in the destinations they are being held in. Smart strategic thinking and linking events to destination is the basis of project success and sustainability. Exchanging experiences with people involved in large projects is an extraordinary opportunity to enrich yourself, and to experience that in combination with Slavonian hospitality is a particular pleasure and an opportunity you don’t want to miss. See you!”

Pannonian Challenge has grown from a small competition for local riders to an extreme sports festival on a global scale, which is on the wish list of almost all the best riders in the world. To come to where it is now, the festival was helped by its many partners, most notably Vipnet. “For the seventh year in a row in Slavonia we support an exciting event that, apart from extreme sports, attracts tourists from all over the region. This year we will also enrich Pannonian Challenge with interesting content at the site itself, as well as with various surprises on our social media. I am glad that we have given this event a humanitarian character and that we will, in cooperation with the Pannonian Association and the organizers, through the social fundraising platform “Čini pravu stvar” that was started by Vipnet, raise donations for kids from Children’s Home Klasje from Osijek.”- said the Director of Corporate Communications of Vipnet Martina Rizman Matić.

Let’s repeat again, Pannonian Challenge from May 30 to June 2, will bring together the world’s best extreme sports riders, sports and event industry experts as well as some of the best performers and bands in the region (together with mosquitos) and spectacularly start another interesting and hot summer in Slavonia.
