22nd Pannonian Challenge Begins With The Victory of the Audience

”See you in the park” – that was the last message of the press conference at which the long-awaited 22nd Pannonian Challenge was announced with sponsors and partners. However, the (unofficial) opening of the best regional extreme sports festival on Tuesday was held in a well-known tone, with an exhibition of extreme photographs that Samir Kurtagić chose for his fellow citizens and numerous guests. He is one of the founders of the Pannonian Challenge who, along with eight colleagues with a keen eye, is also the author of numerous posted photographs. The exhibition at Sakuntala Park gave passers-by a sneak peek in the next 4 days of extreme sports and extremely good fun, while mobile exhibitions from 12th to 13th between the sculpture of Pablo Picasso and the Pedestrian bridge, and from 14th to 15th of August at Copacabana, constantly reminded to stop by the skate park in Osijek for a new dose of adrenaline. Namely, the 22nd Pannonian Challenge, with the compliance of epidemiological measures returned the focus to the audience, and in anticipation of that reunion in the stands, while BMX, Inline, Skate and Scooter drivers fly through the air, everything is further ignited with a party at the Old Bakery – which will be the place of dance, laughter and recharging batteries for top-notch extreme sports competitions for the next 3 evenings, with a ticket of 30 kunas. One of the best DJs from Osijek, Umbo and Flegma, were the first to take care of that, warming up the audience in a recognizable rhythm and preparing them for everyday parties by the end of the week.

The indestructible character and mentality of the winner

The Pannonian Challenge came back stronger than ever, which was confirmed at a unique press conference, on which is the roof of the Cultural Center, with symbols of extreme sports and carefully selected extreme photographs. In addition to Jurica Barać – the director of the Pannonian Challenge, the conference was attended by Ivan Radić – Mayor of Osijek, Martina Jeričević – Head of the State Administration of Sports, Tajana Rogulja – director of the Osijek Tourist Board and Iva Ančić – brand and marketing communications manager at A1 Croatia.

– In front of us is the 22nd Pannonian Challenge – the best, the biggest so far, and the most beautiful thing, we return to our best edition – an event with the audience! We have been organizing the Pannonian for two decades because of young people, athletes, lovers of the positive, volunteers and all those who make up the soul of the Pannonian Challenge, and that is our audience. These days, the city of Osijek will be flooded with adrenaline and positives, athletes from over 20 countries are coming to us, we continue with the music program at an interesting new location in the courtyard of the Old Bakery, an exhibition was set up in the city center and we do everything following COVID measures and recommendations, because the safety of all visitors and our fellow citizens comes first. We had the opportunity to see how this situation that happened to the whole world did not postpone the Olympics either and thus not the sporting spirit of man. Through creativity, knowledge and perseverance, we overcome all obstacles and that is why today we start from the top of the Cultural Center in Osijek and send a strong message – culture, sports and the community is stronger than anything! See you at the 22 and Pannonian Challenge! A big thanks to our volunteers, partners, and sponsors for their selfless support – said Jurica Barać, once again recalling the success of the festival and the Osijek team that built the skate park for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, while the crown of everything is Poki’s performance as a judge at the world’s largest sports festival.

– The importance of the Pannonian Challenge for the city of Osijek is unquestionable: for 22 years now, this festival of urban culture has positioned Osijek on the map of the world as a center of sports, entertainment, but also of indestructible character. I often emphasize that Osijek must have the mentality of a winner, which is exactly the mentality of the PC. This was especially confirmed by last year’s edition – when few in the world dared to hold a competition or event. This year’s focus on the audience returning makes me especially happy, as it shows how aware we are that the only real strength of any project is precisely the people. On the other hand, the COVID measures that the organization adheres to show that extreme does not mean irresponsible, which is also an important message in these challenging times. The Pannonian Challenge for Osijek is much more than a project, and for the people of Osijek, it is much more than a competition. The Pannonian Challenge is first and foremost a way of thinking. The city has been and will be in every way a partner to the entire team organizing the Pannonian. I am sure that longevity and, I am convinced, that even more successful future lies in our community – said Ivan Radić, Mayor of Osijek, congratulating and thanking the organizers for everything they do for the urban culture and the city.
